Press Release - Tersenyumlah (smile) & Dearest Love (Zui Qin Ai De) from Alena
Alena is back again with two songs launched together, one duet version with Indonesia Idol 2004 winner Delon, and one solo version with more dramatic arrangement.
"We knew each other long before he was Indonesian idol. We often get paired up in events to sing duets, so I know that our vocals matched. So, since my 2nd album, I've always thought of him everytime i have a duet song," Alena said.
The "Tersenyumlah"(just smile) song was composed by Popo Fauza and lyrics by Gracia Wu, also arranged by Alvin Lubis. Alena and Delon both are very happy to be able to sing together since it was hard to manage that- due to different record labels they were signed to. Now that they are in the same record label: Nagaswara, its very easy to have legal permissions for collaboration.
The Mandarin version: Dearest Love (zui qin ai de) is also composed by Popo Fauza and arranged by Alvin Lubis. For the lyrics, Alena asked Ivan Lindarto who made the lyrics of her "Lavender" song from her 2nd album- to wrote it
"I personally love this mandarin version better, I know it sounds un-fair , but I just do.. maybe because of the more dramatic arrangement and the Chinese language. I Love singing in Chinese!. This has nothing to do with nationalism, I just grew up hearing lots of English and Chinese songs."
Popo Fauza as the composer is very delighted to have this song, which he thinks is "so Alena", after exploring with different genres this past year.
Alena said, this song was actually made only in one day, and then stored for a long time in the computer. Since Popo composed so many songs, this song was almost forgotten, until one day Alena & her sister Gracia look up on this song and was very excited about it. Popo was actually a bit unconfident but encouraged by their excitement.
This song talks about unselfish love, putting the loved one's happiness over self. As written in the last part of the chorus "Selalu......bahagiamu yang kan jadi bahagiaku.." (always, your happiness will be my happiness too..).
About the year 2011, Alena wishes her songs will be heard by most Indonesian, as she & her husband was super focused on making music this past year. "So there will be some new great songs coming up this year, just wait and hear," Alena said with joy.
